Sensex closes 33 points higher
A benchmark index for Indian equities ended on Monday with a modest 33 point gain, with metals and consumer durable stocks seeing healthy buys.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,063.48 points, ended at 18,032.11 points, up 33.7 points or 0.19 per cent, from Friday’s close at 17,998.41 points.
It had risen to 18,216.5 points soon after opening bell. At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was ruling 0.05 per cent up at 5,410.2 points. Broader markets indices closed flat.
