Sensex gains 63 points
Mumbai: A benchmark index for Indian equities markets on Tuesday nudged up 63 points on a rather volatile trading day.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,260.08 points, closed at 18,265.62 points (provisional), up 63.42 points or 0.35 per cent from its previous close at 18,202.2 points.
It had slipped to a low of 18,050.48 points in the morning and rose to a high of 18,361.66 points later in the day.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange shut shop 0.41 per cent up at 5,478.55 points.
Broader markets ended mixed, with the BSE midcap index closing 0.19 per cent lower and the BSE smallcap index ending 0.6 per cent up.
