Sensex pares early gains; eases 38 points
The BSE benchmark Sensex pared its early gains and slipped 38 points due to mild selling mainly in realty, healthcare, banking, IT and tech counters.
The 30-share BSE index was quoted at 17,524.61 at 1015 hrs, showing a net loss of 38 points or 0.22 per cent from its last weekend's level. It had resumed higher at 17,593.67 and moved in a range of 17,632.23 and 17,517.54 in morning trade.
The NSE 50-share Nifty also moved dowm by 6 points or 0.11 per cent to 5,278.20 points.
Major losers from the Sensex pack were DLF (1.60 per cent), ICICI Bank (1.04 per cent), Tata Motor (0.93 per cent), Sunpharma (0.90 per cent) and Infosys (0.75 per cent).
However, ONGC firmed up by 1.28 per cent followed by TCS 1.05 pct, Jaiprakash Asso 0.76 per cent, M&M 0.65 per cent and BHEL 0.55 per cent.
Asian shares rose in the early trade, but gains were capped by concerns that surging bond yields could stifle debt-ridden Italy's fund raising ability and throw the euro zone deeper into financial turmoil, while Greece struggled to pick a new leader.
Key benchmark indices in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan rose by between 0.1 per cent to 0.72 per cent while Japan's Nikkei Average fell by 0.13 per cent.
