Sensex sheds 14 points in early trade
In range-bound movement, the BSE benchmark Sensex declined marginally by over 14 points in early trade on Tuesday as participants trimmed positions amid a weak trend in Asia.
The 30-share barometer, which had lost 104.40 points on Monday, fell by 14.04 points, or 0.09 per cent, to 17,664.77.
Stocks of realty, auto and consumer durable sectors declined on selective selling.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty fell by 7.40 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 5,342.85.
Brokers said a weak trend on Asian bourses as fears about the eurozone and Chinese economies overshadowed hopes that central banks were poised to unveil new stimulus measures, mainly influenced the trading sentiments here.
In Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was down by 0.09 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei Index shed 0.28 per cent.
The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.25 per cent lower in Monday's trade.
