Staff stay indifferent to Raju’s fate
Hyderabad, Aug. 18: There was a sense of disappointment and anger among 40,000-odd employees of crisis-hit Satyam Computers against their chairman Ramalinga Raju about 19 months ago. The mood has changed since then. Now they are indifferent towards Mr Raju’s fate — whether he remains in jail or out on bail. But they want justice to be delivered.
“When the news about the scam broke out, I was shocked, to say the least; it was later replaced by anger against the person, who brought in such a tsunami in my life. But now after so many months, I don’t have feeling for Raju. I am totally indifferent about him,” said a Satyam employee working for BFSI. Justice, however, he says, needs to be delivered.
Mr Raju’s confession about fudging of accounts gave sleepless nights to around 40,000 employees and their families. Though Satyam stabilised after Tech Mahindra acquired it, around 7,000 employees lost their jobs and another 3,000 quit.
Another employee seeks a speedy trial to bring justice to stakeholders — employees and investors — who suffered because of Raju’s fraud. “Satyam employees, who until the Raju’s confession were most sought after for giving loans to giving daughter in marriage, had become the most unwanted,” says another employee, who shares disgust for her former boss.
