Unions to join strike today
Hyderabad, Sept. 6: Several unions from across sectors have decided to take part in the September 7 strike, which was called by the National Convention of Workers (NCW).
The strike call was given to protest against a host of issues such as price rise, disinvestment, labour law violations, a increased FDI limit in insurance companies, new pension scheme and social security.
Police have made necessary security arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents during the strike on Tuesday.
Apart from railways and other public sector companies, employees from insurance and telecom companies have decided to join the strike.
However, banking officers associations — All India State Bank Officers’ Fede-ration and All India Bank Officers’ Confederation — have decided against joining the strike.
All-India Insurance Employees Association (Secunderabad division) will organise a rally as part of the strike.
The joint action committee of General Insurance Employees Association and General Insurance Emplo-yees Union has also backed the strike.
South Central Railway Employees Sangh will observe the entire week — from September 7 to 13 — as a protest week. SCR Employees Sangh has also demanded recruitment for 2.1 lakh vacant posts.
