US adds 80,000 jobs in June, jobless rate at 8.2%
The United States added a meager 80,000 jobs in June, the third month of weak job creation amid a sluggish economy, official data showed on Friday.
The unemployment rate was unchanged from May at 8.2 per cent, the Labor Department said.
The data showed a sharp slowdown in hiring, with the average pace in April, May and June falling to 75,000 jobs, only a third of the first quarter's level.
The economy added an upwardly revised 77,000 jobs in May and 68,000 in April.
