Volkswagen sales up by 244 pc to 6,185 units in May

units in the same month last year.

The company sold 5,889 units of Polo and Vento in May 2011 and 184 units of Passat with BlueMotion Technologies.

During January-May 2011, the company sold 33,958 units as against 32,627 units in same period last year.

"We are pleased with the overall performance and acceptability of our products in India which has enabled us to outshine our last year's sales in five months," Volkswagen Group Sales India, Member of Board & Director, Passenger Cars, Neeraj Garg, said in a statement.

"We hope to continue our performance in the coming months, despite the current market scenario," he added.
