Now in its 15th year, the annual Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is back this February and brings with it something for everyone - whether you are into art, music, theatre, dance, literature, cinema, heritage or food. The festival, that is on till February 10, was initially conceived to draw attention to and preserve the heritage art district of South Mumbai but has now taken a life of its own, drawing crowds in the thousands from across the country and literally bringing contemporary art to the streets, making it accessible to everybody.

From the outside, the building that houses Moving Picture Company is unremarkable, one of the many littered across the sprawling grounds of ITPL Business Park in Bengaluru. But a sense of surrealism sets in as you enter the cavernous depths of their office and there is barely any light save those from the millions of flickering monitors.

Shriya Saran couldn’t have asked for a better way to kickstart the new year, with the highly anticipated Midnight’s Children finally set to release on Indian screens. She essays the role of ‘Parvati the Witch’, the principal love interest in the film. “Parvati is born exactly seven seconds after midnight on August 15, 1947 and she is blessed with special powers,” she explains, “Her interactions with Saleem and Shiva, the protagonists, make for a very intense love story.”
