Making up for any time lost in observing protocol, chief minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi cemented the ongoing ties with the Congress by meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Raj Bhavan on Monday morning.

The speed with which the contentious telecom ministry was handed over to Mr Kapil Sibal has jolted the DMK. Many had believed that the Prime Minister would keep the portfolio as additional charge until the completion of the CBI probe and that, hopefully with Mr Raja’s name getting cleared, would get back the ministry.

The CAG has done wrong in computing a huge loss to the exchequer by taking the recent 3G auction amount as the yardstick, Union IT and telecommunications minister A. Raja said here.

Chief minister M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday asserted that the ties between his DMK party and the Congress “are as strong as ever” and dismissed the suggestion seen in some sections of the media that his national ally was behaving like a “big brother” since winning a comfortable count in the UPA-II.
