GJM pins hopes on bengal gov
Apparently in a desperate need for a face-saving escape route, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung on Wednesday welcomed West Bengal governor M.K. Narayanan’s “announcement” to play the role of a mediator to resolve the crisis in the hills. He expressed hopes that Mr Narayanan would take necessary steps as early as possible. Mr Gurung posted this message on the popular social networking site Facebook.
‘Govt should hold talks with GJM’
Shedding its rigid stand, the Mamata Banerjee government should initiate a dialogue with the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha for the early resolution of the crisis in the Hills, the Left Front chairman Biman Bose said on Monday. “It is the responsibility of the state government to take the initiative for holding talks with the GJM,” he added. Mr Bose was speaking after a Left Front meeting at Alimuddin Street.

After a respite of four days, the hills is again likely to witness a complete shutdown for five consecutive days from August 19 to 23. To avoid inviting the wrath of the judiciary, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha has refrained from describing the new agitation as bandh or janata curfew.
