Delhi govt takes charge of Games food quality
The volunteers persistent complaints about stale food being served to them has finally got the Delhi government taking charge of serving good quality food to them. This comes after two caterers failed to deliver the quality and quantity required at such magnitude on a daily basis. The volunteers have been complaining that the food served to them did not taste good and even had a stale smell. Earlier, even the doctors across the Games venues were up in arms against bad quality food.
Accreditation relief for Pak delegates
The Pakistani delegates for the Commonwealth Games, who were complaining of travelling restrictions for going out of Delhi on their visas, can now breathe in relief.
Docs, artistes still wait for accreditation
The Games are only two days away but the Organising Committee is yet to get its accreditation act in place. Apart from the 7,000 performing artistes who will participate at the opening ceremonies, accreditation for doctors selected for Games village and Games venue duties, as well as more than 10,000 volunteers, besides the workers who have deployed for sanitation works is yet to become a reality. It is also causing coordination problems and raised serious security concerns.
CGF’s hackles rise over rugby practice venues
A special team of the Commonwealth Games Federation, which went on an inspection of the Games venues on Saturday, has asked the Delhi government and the Organising Committee to give explanation as to why the Rugby practice ground in the Delhi University premises is not ready yet.
CVC seeks overbridge material details
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) which is investigating almost everything related to Commonwealth Games — from display boards to installation of air-conditioners — has now asked the CPWD and the PWD of the Delhi government to provide details of all the materials used in foot overbridges at various Commonwealth Games sites and other Games-related sites.
