Folk dance has always enthralled us with a peculiar sense of awe and grandeur, especially in India where every region has a special folk feature. One such form of folk from the states of Orissa, West Bengal  and Jharkhand is known as Chhau.

Death is better than anonymity

Shaapit, Shaapit and more Shaapit is my life these days. My third in my horror trilogy and let me tell you that scaring people is a scary business because there is a very thin line between funny and scary. Luckily I have managed to stay on this side of the line but it requires patience more than anything else and thus I am even more patient with the people who come to see me.

Do we spare the rod?

Discipline is a word that comes up so often in our lives. In most cases, it is universally agreed upon that discipline is a virtue to be lauded. As adults, we are supposed to have self-discipline, to be able to adhere to strictly to our responsibilities and commitments. As students, we must have the discipline to be organised, to complete our assignments, and to succeed. As teachers, we aim to foster creative thought while maintaining a sense of discipline and order in the classroom. Society at large agrees with this.
