Sion flyover to be ready by Nov end

Nov. 3: The traffic mayhem on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marg in front of Sion Hospital is all set to end. The last girder on the under-construction flyover was attached on Monday night and it would be opened for motorists by the end of this month. People hope that this development will end traffic woes in the area that people have been putting up with for over a year and a half.

BJP demands increase in aid

Oct. 6: A day after the Maharashtra government announced Rs 2,000 per hectare aid for farmers affected by the unprecedented rainfall in the first week of October, the Bharatiya Janata Party demanded that the aid amount should be increased to Rs 5,000 per hectare for annual crops.

Mhada eyes private land

Nov. 3: Hit by paucity of land to construct new affordable residential buildings, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority is mulling over a proposal to buy private land in different areas of the state to build affordable houses. The proposal would be sent to the new state government as and when it would be formed.

Govt delay, not new for Congress-NCP

Nov. 3: The tussle between the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party delaying government formation is not new for Maharashtra.

This is the third consecutive time the Democratic Front alliance has got the people's mandate to form the government. Both the parties had also formed coalition governments in 1999 and 2004 after hard bargaining for portfolios for 12 and 15 days respectively.
