Thousands left stranded after glitch in Metro

Metro commuters in the national capital had a harrowing time when a train stopped near a station due to a technical fault at about 11.30 am, disrupting Metro services for nearly two hours on Tuesday, Raksha Bandhan day.

‘Whitewash homes prior to Games’

The Delhi government on Tuesday in an appeal asked citizens to get their houses whitewash ahead of Commonwealth Games. Kidnapped boy killed, accused held

Chaos at Rajiv Chowk station

Police personnel were deployed at the Metro stations to control the rush of passengers when a train stopped ahead of the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station due to a technical fault. Entry into stations like Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate was restricted. At Rajiv Chowk, guards did not allow people alighting from Line 3 (Dwarka Sec. 9-Noida City Centre) to go to the underground platform.

Heavy festive rush blocks city routes

PWD projects still pending

With less than 40 days remaining for the Commonwealth Games, the public works department is yet to complete at least 14 out of the 34 projects it had undertaken for the event. Besides the crucial project of Barapulla Nullah elevated road project, others still pending completion pertain to street-lighting and street-scaping on PWD roads.

Flood threat halts Games Village work

The flood threat has forced stoppage of work at the Commonwealth Games Village. Rising Yamuna water level has forced the Delhi government to ask civic agencies to stop work at the Commonwealth Games Village near Akshardham.

Yamuna remains above red mark

The Yamuna water level continued to remain above the danger mark and with more water released from Haryana it is likely to rise further. The water has also reportedly entered the outer periphery of Nigambodh ghat.

EC: EVM allegation is false

The Election Commission of India on Tuesday flatly denied any role in the arrest of Hari Prasad for allegedly stealing an electronic voting machine (EVM) from a godown in South Mumbai. Hari Prasad, a technical coordinator of VeTA (Citizens for Verifiability, Transparency and Accountability in Elections), has been in the fore-front of a campaign to prove the theory that electronic voting machines can be tampered with.
