Home minister P. Chidambaram on Wednesday visited the site of the blast here which killed a toddler and left over 20 people, including foreigners, injured.

The Central government had sent an advisory to the Uttar Pradesh government warning against a possible terror strike at the popular Dashashwamedh Ghat here but there might have been lapses on the part of authorities that led to the blast, home minister P. Chidambaram said on Wednesday.

The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested three people in connection with Tuesday's terror blast, according to a TV report.

An explosion rocked the holy town of Varanasi here on Tuesday evening leaving at least 20, including some foreign tourists, injured.
