Sensex lacklustre in noon trade

A benchmark index for Indian equities was ruling lacklustre around noon Tuesday, with traders taking a breather after a 471 point rally in the previous session.

Sensex down over 600 pts, lowest level in 2 years

Indian equities fell sharply to a two-year intra-day low on Wednesday as traders, spooked by a weak rupee and global economic turmoil, sold in droves across the market breadth. Before a recovery later, the benchmark index had plunged 586 points.

Sensex slips below 17,000

A benchmark index for Indian equities on Monday gave up its modest early gains and fell below the 17,000-mark in noon trade. The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE opened at 17,176.05 points and was ruling at 16,973.47 points, down 109.22 points or 0.64 per cent from its previous close at 17,082.69 points.

Sensex rallies to close 187 points higher
