New York: A Sikh professor at Columbia University has been allegedly attacked by a group of men who called him "Osama" and "terrorist" in an assault which the police is investigating as a hate crime.

Some members of the LGBT community have joined in protesting against the conviction of Indian American student Dharun Ravi, accused of spying on his gay roommate Tyler Clementi for a hate crime.
