Mumbai police on Friday invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) MCOCA against all the eight accused arrested in connection with the murder of senior crime journalist Jyotirmoy Dey.

Expressing “deep concern” that no headway has been made in the probe into the killing of journalist J. Dey, BJP on Wednesday demanded that the case be handed over to the CBI for an “unbiased” investigation.

Journalists in Maharashtra on Wednesday took part in relay hunger strikes to denounce the government’s refusal to hand over the probe into journalist Jyotirmoy Dey’s murder to the CBI.
