Army chief ratifies order to dismiss Lt Gen Avadesh

Just before his retirement, Gen V.K. Singh has ratified a court martial's decision to dismiss former military secretary Lt Gen. Avadesh Prakash from service after he was found guilty by an Army court in the Sukna land scam case.

The dismissal means that he will not get any benefits like pension and will not be entitled to use Army rank or any privilege attached with military service.

Prakash is the senior-most officer to have been awarded this punishment by the Army.

Former military secretary Lt Gen Avadesh Prakash was on Saturday found guilty on three counts by an Army court here in the Sukna land scam involving transfer of 71 acres of land adjacent to the military station in West Bengal.
