2 more from Tamil Nadu die in Nepal crash
Two more Tamils — Udhayagiri Gopi, 60, and his wife G. Swarnalakshmi, 52, from Chennai — were among the 15 Indians killed in the plane crash at Pokhara, Nepal, on Monday, bringing to four the number of Tamils reported dead so far in the crash..
“We received a call early this morning from the Indian mission, which confirmed the news,” Swarnalakshmi’s nephew, N. Kishan, told Deccan Chronicle. “My parents have rushed to Kathmandu to bring the bodies to Chennai,” he said.
“It was really shocking when we heard the news. The couple was very kind and religious,” Sindhya, Swarnalakshmi’s neighbour, said.
“Swarnalakshmi aunty was very friendly with everyone. She was like my mother. She informed me before leaving for Nepal. I just can’t come to terms with the terrible news,” said a weeping Sindhya.
“We didn’t expect it at all,” said another neighbour.
The two left last Tuesday and were expected to return in a week.
Meanwhile, Sreenivasan, the relative of air crash victim Latha Sreekanth, said that Latha’s two daughters are safe in Kathmandu, while Sreekanth is in
coma.
