2-year-old girl falls from balcony, dies

A two-year-old girl died after she fell from the first floor balcony of her house in Korukupettai on Thursday night.

Anuksha, the daughter of Nagaraj and Maheswari of Mani Street, was playing in the balcony at 9 pm when she slipped and fell.

The girl suffered serious head injuries and her parents took her to the Stanley Medical College where she was declared dead later.

“Its look like the baby dodged the attention of her mother and walked into the balcony. She tried to climb onto the rails of the balcony and slipped,” the police said.

Police officials later said that both Maheswari and Anuksha were sleeping. “Nagaraj, who works in a private firm, was not at home when the incident took place. In between, the girl got up from sleep and started playing on the balcony from where she slipped,” the police said.
