26-yr-old driver disappears hours before wedding

Police is on the lookout for a 26-year-old driver from Perambur who mysteriously disappeared on the day of his wedding.

After Vijay Kumar failed to turn up for the marriage scheduled between 6 and 7.30 am Friday at Vadapalani Murugan temple, the bride’s family lodged a complaint.

Family of the bride Bhavani, 21, of Kasimedu and relatives reached the temple well in advance. Even Vijay Kumar’s parents turned up at the venue with the message that the groom would reach the temple before muhoortham. But he never came, police said.

The families waited till 9 am and then went to Vadapalani Police Station. They later went to the police commissioner’s office on the suggestion of some Vadapalani officers but were redirected to the police station.

Police said both families were at the Vadapalani station trying to sort out the issue, while the groom remained untraceable with his mobile phone switched off.
