4 DMK members suspended from house for 10 days
Four DMK members including two former ministers were suspended from the Assembly on Thursday for 10 days for obstructing the proceedings in the House and disrespecting the Chair, even as all Opposition DMK legislators were evicted en-masse from the House.
The House witnessed uproarious scenes DMK legislators stood up and protested against a reference by K. Tamilarasan (AIADMK) to DMK leader and Union chemicals and fertilisers minister M. K. Alagiri alleging that the latter had unleashed violence during the previous DMK regime.
Speaker directed Assembly marshals to evict the DMK MLAs for disrupting the proceedings. Leader of the House and finance minister O.
Panneerselvam moved a resolution seeking the suspension of DMK members — E. V. Velu, Moideen Khan, Soundarapandiyan and Cumbum Ramakrishnan— for 10 days for showing disdain to Speaker and lowering the dignity of the House. It was passed by the House.
