Abandoned temple comes alive

The nondescript Keelapattu village near here is witnessing a flurry of activities and has grabbed the attention of authorities.

This transformation came after people mobilised funds and renovated the ancient Sri Chandramouleeshwarar temple that was abandoned six decades ago, and performed Kumbabhishekam. Officials have assured more amenities in and around temple.

“Officials, who learnt about people’s involvement in resurrecting Arulmighu Tripurasundari Samedha Chandramouleeswarar temple, visited the shrine and assured laying of a pucca road.

They also promised to create amenities for the village, located about ten km from Tiruttani,” said V. Subramanian, a devotee and temple conservation enthusiast.

DC highlighted the plight of the 1,500-year-old temple in Nagari on the TN — AP border, forsaken by villagers, in March first week.

The temple was cleared of thickets, whitewashed, cleaned and Mahasivarathri was celebrated for the first time last month.
