Actor killed for trying to recover loan

A small time actor, who also worked as loan collection agent for a financier, was stabbed to death in Perambur on Saturday night when he allegedly threatened an auto driver of dire consequences if the latter failed to return the money he borrowed.

The deceased was identified as Kumar, a welder by profession, who used to act in small negative roles in movies and TV serials, was helping a local financier collect money from defaulting borrowers.

Kumar had an interaction with auto driver Devarajan at Thiru Vi Ka junction in Perambur on Saturday night. “It seems Kumar, 37, was asking Devaraj for money he had borrowed from a financier.

It led to an argument and worsened into a heated exchange of words before turning into a murderous attack on Kumar. One of Devaraj’s supporters at the auto rickshaw stand stabbed Kumar on his chest and killed him,” the police said.

“We are on the lookout for the three, including Devaraj, Johnny and Durai. We are also trying to find out if there was any other motive,” the police said.
