Bystander techie killed in bar brawl

A 42-year-old software engineer, who was standing near a liquor shop, was killed when two groups clashed over running a bar near the Tasmac liquor vending outlet in Chennai.

The deceased was identified as Chandrasekhara Dhulkarni, a resident of Anna Nagar in Velachery who was working in Verizon at Olympia Tech Park in Guindy.

Sources said that after Dhulkarni got off his office bus in Velachery at around 4.30 pm on Tuesday, he saw commotion near a wine shop. While he was trying to make a purchase and also enquire what the commotion was about, he was hacked by one of the gang members engaged in ransacking the bar attached to Tasmac shop number 928, located on 100 Feet Road.

Sources said Dhulkarni could have been killed by mistake.
