Chargesheet in min kin murder
The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed chargesheet against 21 accused, including Srinivasan, brother of PMK founder Dr S. Ramadoss, in connection with the murder of Murganandam, a close associate of C.Ve.
Shanmugham, presently the minister for commercial taxes, on the night of assembly election day on May 8, 2006. The chargesheet was filed in the chief judicial magistrate court, Chengalpet, on Monday.
It may be noted that the PMK founder and his son and former Union minister Anbumani Ramadoss were questioned by the CBI in connection with the attack and murder.
The CBI has not completely ruled out the possible involvement of Ramadoss and his son. “We questioned them. That portion of the case is pending,” sources in CBI said.
In the poll-related violence a gang allegedly barged into the house of Mr Shanmugam in Tindivanam and attacked the inmates in which Murganandam was killed.
The attack was result of differences between Mr Shanmugham and M. Karunanithi of the PMK who contested from the Tindivanam assembly constituency in the 2006 Assembly elections. The CBI had also arrested Karunanidhi.
The special crimes branch of the CBI began probe after Mr Shanmugham moved the Madras high court, seeking a probe by the CBI into the case in October 2011.
