Chef Damu adds zing to noon meal
Celebrity chef Damu has been drafted by the social welfare ministry to provide healthy, lip-smacking food to children in state government and corporation schools.
With the government introducing variety rice and dishes made of pulses and vegetables in the menu, chef Damu will give training to noon meal cooks and help them add spice to the lunch served to the students.
Inaugurating the special training for noon meal workers at Saidapet corporation school, rural industries and noon meals minister M.C. Sampath said the scheme will cover all the 43,000 noon meal centres in Tamil Nadu.
Chef Damu will teach how to make 13 new varieties of food, he said. All the cooking centres will be provided demo CDs on how to cook hygienic, tasty food, he added.
Chennai mayor Saidai S. Duraisamy said improving noon meals was mentioned in the CM’s Vision 2023 document. Saidapet legislator Senthamilan and noon-meals director Jothi Nirmala participated.
