Chilled beer in rural Tasmac shops too
Over 2,500 Tasmac shops in rural areas will soon get bottle coolers which will enable them to serve chilled beer to customers.
The state government has recently finalised a firm to supply bottle coolers to the outlets. It has also been decided to procure billing machines for the outlets in the wake of increasing complaints of overpricing.
“Works are afoot to supply bottle coolers to all Tasmac outlets in rural areas after the firm Voltas was chosen through the tendering process.
The supply of bottle coolers has already started as per the list prepared by our officials,” sources told DC.
While outlets in urban areas like Chennai have adequate bottle coolers, several shops in rural areas were selling warm beer to customers owing to lack of cooling facility though they charged the same amount, hence the move, added the official.
All outlets would soon be issued with billing machines to prevent overpricing.
“The salesman will have to issue bills for every purchase to avoid overpricing complaints and sales in the shop can also be tracked easily. Tenders will be floated soon to procure equipment,” said the official.
The official also rubbished rumours that Tasmac shops in the state would be shut down from October 2. “Earlier it was August 15 and now they speculate October 2, which is not true,” he said.
