CM okays Rs 17.31 cr integrated court complex in Tindivanam
Chief minister J. Jayalalithaa has ordered the establishment of an integrated court complex in Tindivanam at an outlay of %Rs 17.31 crore.
The complex will house various courts and residences for judges. “The government led by Ms Jayalalithaa has been taking steps to improve the infrastructure in courts, since judiciary is one of the pillars of democracy,” an official release said here on Monday. The chief minister was keen on ensuring courts functioned from their own buildings in the state.
“The chief minister has ordered the construction an integrated court complex on 8.15 acre land at Jakkempet village on Tindivanam Main Road, as courts at Tindivanam in Villupuram district are functioning at various places amidst space crunch and other difficulties,” the release stated. The project is part of the state government’s initiative to provided own buildings to courts.
Apart from laying emphasis on improving the court infrastructure and establishing more courts, it may be recalled that the chief minister had even announced to establish a national law school at Navalur Kuttapattu in Srirangam to provide legal education par excellence in the state.
About Rs 100 crore has been earmarked for establishing the school on 25-acre land owned by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.
