Cop, motorist fight it out over helmet
A traffic police constable got into scuffle with a bike rider after the motorist objected to the policeman trying to stop him as he was not wearing helmet.
The incident happened in Triplicane where a college faculty member was riding his bike without a helmet.
An argument between policeman Rajendran and the rider escalated into a scuffle following which both fell and rolled on the road to the shock of many onlookers, including motorists and bus passengers.
Another policeman, who was nearby, rushed to the scene and separated them.
“It seems like the traffic policeman wanted the bike rider to pay money as he was not wearing helmet.
It is not clear what infuriated the motorist. It is possible that the constable could have demanded bribe and might have threatened the rider of booking him,” police sources said. “Only after we complete a probe, we will know the back ground.”
