Cops crack murder of senior citizen
The city police claims to have cracked the murder case of a 65-year-old woman from Kodungaiyur, who was killed last year.
The victim, Papatthyammal, was murdered by a four-member gang that assumed she was in possession of a huge quantity of cash and gold.
Police arrested Mohan, 22, Sakthivel, 22, Suresh, 23 and Manimaran, 22 in connection with the murder and recoverd two gold rings from them.
One of the accused, who was picked in connection with another case about a quarrel, had tipped off cops about the murder of the woman.
A resident of Kadumpadiyamman Koil street in Kodungaiyur, the victim was staying in a small house and was a moneylender.
Before killing her, the four men had consumed alcohol and hatched the plan to kill the woman. On the night of July 2 last year, the gang jumped over the compound wall to ‘execute’ their plan, police said.
