Don Bosco begins bicentennial celebrations

Students of Don Bosco high school in Egmore turned up in full force, parents in tow, to celebrate the bicentennial birth anniversary of their founder, visionary educationist Don Bosco.

Holding candles as a symbol of the Don Bosco spirit, students, teachers and parents kickstarted the festivities bound to go on until 2015, the 200th birth anniversary year of the educationist. TN Speaker D. Jayakumar inaugurated the celebrations.

Don Bosco, who was born in Turin, Italy, on August 16, 1815, popularised the sytem of teaching only by love.
