Double-decker train to B’luru soon

Southern Railway on Friday announced the introduction of a double-decker train connecting Chennai central and Bangalore city stations.

These are among the host of new express trains linking various major towns in Tamil Nadu with important destinations in the country.

The 13-coach fully air-conditioned double decker express (train no. 22625 /22626) will start from Chennai Central at 7.25 am and reach Bangalore at 1.30 pm, while the train in the opposite direction will start at 2.40 pm and reach here by 8.45 pm. The date of introduction of the train would be notified later.

With the introduction of the double decker express, the timing of the Brindavan Express (train no. 12639) starting from here would be revised to 7.50 am from 7.15 am with effect from July 1, the railway time table stated.

Similarly, two air-conditioned weekly super fast express — train no. 22475/ 22476 between Bikaner and Coimbatore and train no. 16561/16562 connecting Yesvantpur and Kochuveli — would also be introduced shortly. The train will start from Coimbatore at 3.20 pm on Saturday and reach Bikaner at 12.25pm on Monday.

The list of new express trains include Shalimar-Chennai Central (weekly) Express, Visakhapatnam-Chennai Express, Asansol-Chennai Central Express, Chennai Central-Puri, Tiruchy-Tirunelveli Intercity, Tirunelveli-Dadar Express, Kacheguda-Madurai, Tirupati-Mannargudi (a tri-weekly).

In all, one double-decker, two fully air-conditioned express and eight new express trains would be introduced by Southern Railway shortly.

A passenger train from Villupuram at 2.40 pm and at 3.25 pm from Mayiladuthurai in the opposite direction would also be introduced. Another daily passenger train connecting Villupuram and Katpadi with 10 coaches would also be introduced.

MEMU services connecting Palakkad-Coimbatore-Erode (daily) and Thirssur-Ernakulam (six days a week) and DEMU service linking Mannargudi-Tiruchy-Manamadurai (daily) are among the services to be introduced shortly.
