DVAC raids office of ex-Guv son
In a major embarrassment to former Tamil Nadu Governor S. S. Barnala, a firm run by his son was raided on Friday by officers of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) investigating claims that he had fraudulently bagged an order for supply of electronic equipment from Anna University.
The sleuths also raided the house of former Anna University vice-chancellor, D. Viswanathan, as part of the investigation.
Barnas International Pvt. Ltd, run by Mr Barnala’s son Jasjith Singh, was searched to verify claims that it had connived with Anna University to fabricate quotations in the names of other companies in a limited tender called for purchase of electronic gadgets for various departments to make sure that it bagged the order, a DVAC release said.
The officers also targeted the CEO of Barnas International, M. Najimudeen, its head, surveillance/manager (projects), R. Yeswanthakumar , professor P. Narayanasamy of the department of computer science, Anna University, and K. Nagarajan, an assistant in the department , according to the release.
Cases have been filed against all those raided and a few other employees of Anna University for cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy, it added.
