DVAC raids on senior IPS officer
Sleuths of the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC) on Monday raided the residences of IPS officer Abishak Dixit, superintendent of police, Tamil Nadu Commando Force in Krishnagiri, and in his hometown Kanpur, in Uttar Pradesh.
It is alleged that the officer, yet to vacate the official residence of the SP, Krishnagiri, even after he was transferred, had effected 85 transfers and revoked 45 punishments besides collecting gold coins from people and colleagues during his birthday celebration.
“During the raids at three residences of Abishak Dixit, belonging to the 2006 batch of IPS, in Kanpur, gold coins weighing 392 gm and cash Rs 10 lakh were seized,” said a senior DVAC official.
The sleuths had also raided the house of P. Ramachandran, a former sub-inspector of Krishnagiri district traffic wing, who was transferred to Tirunelveli district following complaints against him.
Ramachandran allegedly mediated between Dixit and others to strikes deals for transfers.
Ramachandran’s house in his native Bargur town, near Krishnagiri, was the first place the vigilance officials entered during the early hours of Monday.
The team, led by Mr K.A. Senthil Velan, SP for DVAC western zone-Coimbatore, was reportedly astonished at the wealth amassed by Ramachandran. They reportedly found 2.5 kg of gold jewellery, kept in plastic containers, 15 kg of silver articles and land documents.
The relatives, when questioned about the riches of Ramachandran, informed DVAC about his business deals, including pawnbroker trade, in the name of his brother, done in addition to his police job.
