Estimates set for facelift of flyovers
The city’s aesthetic view is all set to improve with city corporation planning to improve the landscape of existing flyovers and subways.
The corporation engineers have now begun preparing estimates for the beautification project and once when the estimate is ready after obtaining the consultant’s views, the corporation would go for tenders, a senior corporation official said.
Last month, the corporation planned to beautify as many as 70 arterial roads and the top brass of the corporation instructed engineers to also focus on the existing bridges.
An NGO has been entrusted with the job of designing city roads and the existing flyovers. The representatives of the NGO have designed 16 roads and five bridges till now.
Currently bridges in North and Central Chennai are studied for designing and beautification, corporation sources said.
As of now there is a no financial crunch and the corporation will spruce up Neelangarai beach and high mast lamp will soon be erected, sources added.
