Fillip to small, micro industries
Chief minister J. Jayalalithaa has sanctioned funds and projects including establishing an entrepreneur training centre, as part of an initiative aimed at providing more impetus to small and micro industries in the state.
According to an official release here on Saturday, the chief minister has ordered the establishment of a training centre at Entrepreneurs’ Development Institute.
“The chief minister has sanctioned Rs 4.88 crore to set up classrooms, auditorium, library, computer centre and hostel at the training centre.
Of the total sum, Rs 3.80 crore will be allotted to construct an academic and administrative block and Rs 1.8 crore for hostel block,” the release stated.
The release said Ms Jayalalithaa has been devoting special attention towards the growth of small and tiny industries which play a crucial role in the economic development of the country.
Several projects are being implemented in the state with participation from Central government to give a fillip to this sector.
Ms Jayalalithaa has ordered the release of the first installment of Rs 49.53 lakh (70 per cent of the total amount) as the state government’s contribution towards setting up of a general amenities centre at an engineering cluster at Hosur in Krishnagiri district.
Also, another sum of `68 lakh, towards the first instalment, was released as the state government’s contribution to provide amenities at the engineering cluster at Ranipet in Vellore district.
She also sanctioned Rs 48 lakh, which was the state government’s contribution to set up an amenities centre at a rice mill cluster at Kizhapavur in Tirunelveli district. “In all, Ms Jayalalithaa has ordered Rs 1.65 crore for all the three clusters,” the release added.
