Fire engulfs 6 vehicles parked in mall
Under mysterious circumstances, three auto rickshaws and three cars that were parked in front of a mall were gutted in a fire at Aminjikarai on Saturday.
As many as 50 vehicles were parked at an empty space in front of a mall in Aminjikarai. Around 3 am, flames erupted in the parking lot and a car caught fire. Fanned by the wind, the flames spread quickly to the vehicles parked nearby.
On information, fire tenders from Anna Nagar rushed to the spot. After a two-hour long battle with the flames, the firemen somehow managed to put out the flames.
However, two cars and three auto rickshaws were charred in the fire.
Officials suspect that someone could have thrown a burning cigarette butt on the vehicles or a short circuit in one of the car batteries could have sparked off the fire.
Investigations are on. In a similar incident, 12 huts were gutted in a fire that sparked off at Madhuravoyal on Friday.
