Fuming Karuna gives it back to Pandian for remarks on Tamils
DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Thursday came down heavily on CPI state secretary D. Pandian for criticising him over the Sri Lankan Tamil issue.
In a statement issued here, Mr Karunanidhi said Mr Pandian and senior leader R. Nallakannu paid a courtesy visit to chief minister Jayalalithaa after unilaterally nominating a candidate for the Pudukottai Assembly bypoll, which was necessitated due the death of CPI MLA Muthukumaran.
“The CPI had even rejected the offer made by various political parties including CPI (M) that the candidate nominated by it will be made a common candidate,” he said.
“Not only did they generously gave up their self respect, Mr Pandian and Mr Nallakannu went a step and paid a courtesy call on the chief minister. They even facilitated meeting of the family members of Mr Muthukumuran,” he alleged.
On Mr Pandian’s charge that Mr Karunanidhi failed to prevent killing of Tamils, he recalled various steps taken by him to stop the war between the LTTE and Lankan Army.
