Gang attacks policeman, flees on bike
A police crime writer attached to Tiruvanmiyur police station was brutally assaulted by an unknown gang at a petrol bunk in Indira Nagar late Friday night following an argument over filling petrol.
According to police sources, Balaji, a crime writer attached to Tiruvanmiyur police station had gone to a petrol bunk on L.B.
Road to fill petrol when a gang of three unidentified men came on a motorcycle and rammed the vehicle into Balaji’s bike.
Argument broke out between Balaji and the gang. In the middle of the argument, one of the assailants took out a wooden log that he had hidden in his shirt and started attacking Balaji.
When the staff at the petrol bunk tried to intervene, the trio fled the spot on their motorbike.
Balaji sustained grievous injuries on his head and collapsed. He was rushed to a private hospital in Indira Nagar where he is undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, sources say that the assailants claimed to be the members of ruling party. The Adyar police has registered a case and is on the look out for the culprits.
