Girl stages kidnap drama to attend fest
A 11-year-old school girl from Manali surfaced in her uncle’s house at Tiru Vi Ka Nagar, claiming that she was kidnapped by a gang in a car.
The police, after a few rounds of enquires, said that the girl was reluctant to go to school as she wanted to attend a temple festival in Tiru Vi Ka Nagar on Monday and made up an abduction story after she reached her uncle’s house.
Shuba’s (name changed) arrival at the house of her paternal uncle Vijayarangam around 11.30 am on Monday telling that she was kidnapped from Manali triggered panic among her family members and police circle.
The girl said she was on her way to school when she was abducted. She said the gang in a car forced her to smell a handkerchief after which she fell unconscious. When she opened her eyes she was in the car in which two infants were also there.
After reaching Tiru Vi Ka Nagar the driver stopped the car to hand over the infants to two women waiting there.
That was when she escaped from the car leaving her bag and shoes back in the car, she claimed. Her version was told to the police based on the which the probe began.
During interrogation the police found that the girl had actually travelled in MTC bus route number 170 from Manali and got down at Moolakadai.
“From there Shuba travelled in a share autorickshaw to Tiru Vi Ka Nagar. On the way she left her school bag and shoes near a heap of garbage before reaching her uncle’s house with the abduction story ready,” the police said.
The police later let off the girl with her parents after a warning.
