HC clears metro water land takeover
The Madras high court has upheld the proceedings of the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), to take over the land belonging to a woman for the purpose of road widening and laying a pipeline underneath the land for the desalination plant coming up at Vada Nemmili.
Justice V. Ramasubramanian dismissed the petition filed by Maria Ramesh, who sought to restrain the CMWSSB from interfering with the petitioner’s peaceful possession and enjoyment of land and building on an extent of 12 grounds in Sholinganallur-II village on ECR.
By the proceedings dated September 30, 2010, the Special Deputy Collector (Land Acquisition) informed the petitioner that a land measuring nearly 2,400 sq.ft was required for widening of the road.
By another proceedings dated November 19, 2010, the CMWSSB informed the petitioner that it was proposed to lay a pipeline underneath the land for the purpose of a desalination plant at Vadanemmili.
