HC orders collector to build bus stand
The Madras high court has directed the Perambalur district collector to redress the grievance of advocate R. Srinivasarao by constructing a bus stand at any available place in Rayappa Nagar, V Kalathur & Post in Veppanthattai.
“The petitioner shall send a fresh representation addressed to the collector, who shall take into consideration and redress the grievance of the petitioner by constructing a bus stand at any available place in the said town,” said a division bench of Chief Justice M.Y. Eqbal and Justice T.S. Sivagnanam.
Srinivasarao said that he was a resident of the village, where vacant government land has been used by the villagers as a bus stand. All the buses coming to his village stop there. Everyday around 1,000 people board the bus. People from surrounding villagers will have to come to this place to board buses.
However, the place lacked basic facilities such as toilets, drinking water and shed for the bus stand. As a result, villagers have to undergo untold hardship, especially during summer and the rainy season.
