Jayalalithaa sets agenda for Tirupur makeover

A mega complex comprising buildings for district collectorate, office of the district police superintendent, district fire and rescue service personnel, integrated court complex, among others, will be constructed at an outlay of Rs 52.13 crore for the newly-formed Tirupur district, chief minister J. Jayalalithaa announced on Sunday.

“The revenue department serves as a bridge between the public and the government in ensuring all welfare measures initiated by the state government reached the people,” Ms Jayalalithaa said.

Her government has been taking measures to make sure that the revenue department rendered prompt and effective service, she said.

The land for this mega project would be acquired from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department, she said.

According to a statement here, Ms Jayalalithaa has ordered the payment of `51.25 crore to the HR&CE department towards the cost of providing the land for the complex.

As the offices now operate from small buildings in different places, the public are put to hardship as they have to visit many places amd hence the new proposal.

Tirupur district was created after bifurcating Coimbatore district in 2008.
