Karuna happy about Raja bail
DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Tuesday expressed happiness over the release of former Union telecom minister A. Raja, prime accused in 2G-spectrum scam, on bail.
“All in DMK support Raja,” Mr Karunanidhi told reporters at his Gopalapuram residence.
To a question if Raja would be involved in active politics, Mr Karunanidhi said all his partymen had been in active politics and so would be the case with Raja.
Asked whether he would visit Delhi to see his party colleague, Karunanidhi said, “If I get a chance, I will visit Delhi to see Raja.”
On chief minister Jayalalithaa’s remarks expressing fears of the case being diluted in the wake of Raja being granted bail, he said that she should first talk about her Bengaluru case (disproportionate assets case).
Granting bail to Raja, the court has imposed several conditions on his movement including a ban on his visit to Tamil Nadu or the department of telecom (DoT) which he had presided over as a minister for over three years.
When Mr Raja walked out of Tihar jail, DMK MPs including T. R. Baalu and J. Halen Davidson received him.
To a question on completion of one year of AIADMK’s rule on Wendesday, he alleged it had been a “dark period” and the people were “waiting for a dawn”.
