Karunanidhi hits out at state govt
DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Sunday accused of AIADMK government for neglecting school education and thus affecting the future of the students.
After the AIADMK came to power last year, school education sector had been subjected to various hurdles, including in the implementation of the uniform school education and appointment of teachers, he alleged.
Karunanidhi noted in his party organ Murasoli that the department of school education had seen three ministers within one year, with each one giving different numbers of teachers to be recruited.
“The announcements made in the AIADMK regime have no value and the ministers lack interest in implementing those announcements,” he claimed.
The DMK president recalled that soon after the AIADMK won the Assembly polls, the then school educcation minister, C. Ve. Shanmugham, announced that 55,000 teachers would be appointed.
“But now, on April 18, the present minister, N.R. Sivapathi, had said 14,349 teachers will be appointed,” he pointed out.
Condemning the demolition of the mosque by Buddhists monks, DMK chief said that the action of the monks goes against the basic teachings of Buddha. “The civilised world will not accept the acts of attacking mosques, churches and temples,” he said.
Karunanidhi said that Sri Lankan government led by Mahinda Rajapksa was taking concerted steps to impose Sinhala and Buddhism in the country.
“Only with this intention, the Sinhalese people are being settled in Tamil dominated areas and round-the-clock monitoring of Tamil areas by the military and attack on temples and churches is being done,” he said.
