Kid rescued in one day
The city police on Monday rescued a four-and-a-half-year-old girl, the daughter of a tailor, who was kidnapped on Sunday by a man known to the family from her residence in Korukkupet for a ransom of Rs 1 lakh.
Bhavana was rescued near Sulurpet railway station on Monday afternoon by a special police team.
The child, the daughter of Murugan, was abducted by one Allavudin, who used to visit the family’s house to collect chit-fund money.
“Allavudin had visited the house of Murugan on Sunday evening, after which the girl’s parents found her missing. On Monday morning, the family received a call from the accused demanding Rs 1 lakh to release the girl,” the police said.
Based on a complaint from the parents, three special teams were formed by the police. Police personnel in civilian clothes followed Murugan, who went to the Sulurpet railway station to hand over the money to Allavudin.
“We caught him but the girl was not there. Allavudin confessed that the girl was with one Bablu who was waiting a few meters away. When the police went there, Bablu left the girl and fled. We rescued the girl unhurt and handed her over to the parents,” the police said.
“We are on the lookout for Bablu,” the police said.
