Lecturer donates brain dead hubby’s organs

A young grieving college lecturer donated her husband’s eyes and other organs after he was declared brain dead in a road accident.

Sagaya Rimen, 34, working as a Tamil teacher in St Joseph School in East Tambaram, was riding two-wheeler to Red Hills to visit a bereaved family when he met with an accident near Koyambedu on May 4. He was admitted to a private hospital and declared brain dead on May 9.

In a rare gesture, his wife Sharmila, mother of two sons, one aged three and other eight months, gave her consent to donate her husband’s organs.
